Not at all. One of the biggest misconceptions is that you have to be in ‘great shape’ and have ‘no issues’ to join the gym. We SPECIALIZE in meeting people where they’re at and our personalized approach helps us understand a safe place to start. If your injuries require therapeutic attention, we can help connect you with trusted practitioners. If we are not the best fit for you then we will communicate that and help make a more suitable recommendation.

5. How soon will I see or feel results?

Well, this depends on your commitment and the type of results. You can feel better mentally in 1 session for example and can feel strength gains in about 2 weeks. Body composition changes, flexibility, self-confidence, more energy, less pain….If you commit to a progress not perfection mentality and stick with it, you can achieve amazing things.

12. Will I experience muscle soreness?

Yes, most likely. When you start to resistance train this is common. To help with muscle soreness, we start everyone on the conservative side instead of pushing to the max. We do foam rolling and other strategies to also help . That being said, if you’re not sore its not a bad thing (it doesn’t have to hurt to be good) so make sure you communicate with your coach on how you’re feeling if unsure.

We offer a variety of nutrition support to our members. Our primary nutrition support is our P6 Nutrition Habits Program.  Other things we’ve provided are: workshops, challenges, as well as access to CSA veggies boxes and farm chickens.

Yes, our staff have very unique expertise including Pre/Post Natal and Pelvic Floor fitness, Kettlebell training, Nutrition and more. We also visit workplaces (or do online presentations) to speak and engage on various topics.

No. Our facility is a great open warehouse space. That being said, it does NOT have frills like showers, saunas, or changerooms with TVs. Come dressed in your workout clothes if possible and get ready to bring it! We do have very nice bathroom facilities.

16. Can I bring my child?

The short answer is no (if a child is under 12 years of age). We have an official Fukumoto Fitness Kids Policy based on what the law requires that we are happy to send you. It centres around legal liability, safety, distraction for both parents and staff, among other things.

17. If I'm pregnant can I join? How soon after pregnancy can I join?

You will need to be cleared from your doctor (Par-med X for Pregnancy Form) to indicate it is safe to participate. If you are already used to a regular fitness routine, there is ample research and recommendation to keep it up during your pregnancy while listening to your body. Every case will be different so you need to speak with your doctor. Know that we have safely trained dozens of women while pregnant and helped them ease back into a smooth return to training afterwards.

18. What is Week 5?

Every 5th week is a shift in focus in training which still includes workouts but they are less intense. There is also a mobility day, and some workshops. There may also be functional re-screens

Most of our clients train 12 months a year and so building in a different pace and focus helps periodize our program giving better rejuvenation and consistency.
