1. What is Fukumoto Fitness?
A Revolutionary Group Personal Training Program.
An Accepting, Challenging, Life-Giving Fitness Community.
The most empowering part of your day!
2. What is a typical class?
Personal Improvement Time (10 min)
Pre-Workout Routine (5 min)
Metabolic Workout (20 min)
Finisher (5 min)
Post-Workout Routine (10 min)
Our program includes top-notch fitness coaching and motivational training while using a mix of “conventional” and “non-conventional” fitness tools and techniques including body-weight exercises, resistance bands, dumbbells, and more! We will add new tools and protocols every few months and rock your world with new, plateau-smashing programming every month!
3. When can I start? How do I register?
You can start at the beginning of any training phase. See Annual Training Calendar for more details. To register for a membership, you must contact us to receive your registration package.
Orientation is required before attending class.
Please contact us so we can set up your orientation (reservation required).
Orientation helps get us on the same page in regards to expectations, our training philosophy, and gives us a chance to do a short assessment of your functional movement. It also helps alleviate any anxiety you may have about attending boot camp. We don’t bite!
4. Do I have to be “in shape” or injury-free to join Fukumoto Fitness?
Not at all. No participant will be left behind or asked to complete more than they are capable of doing safely. We specialize in exercise modifications so that a beginner or advanced member can workout within their fitness level. If by chance this isn’t the best program for you in your current state, we will be honest about that with you. Our health form (Par-Q) and orientation will give clear direction to that decision.
5. How soon will I see results?
Your results will vary based on YOUR COMMITMENT to your training and nutrition program. You can feel differences in a week and even see differences in two! Of course, many people are interested in losing weight and inches (which WILL happen as we have Members who lose between 20-40lbs over a 3-6 month duration!) but we stress that you will view the word “Results” more than just ‘losing weight’ as you experience:
-increased functional strength, flexibility, endurance, more energy, better sleep, better posture, better mood, increase self-confidence, pride in setting a good example for others…the list is unending and very diverse.
6. How much is a membership?
We have packages for 3, 6, and 12-month agreements. Check out our Packages page under “Memberships”. In short, you get a better price and more extras for a longer commitment! VISA and MasterCard are the only accepted forms of payment.
7. What are your class times?
M/W/F for 45 minutes at: 6 am, 7 am, 430 pm, 530 pm, 630 pm
We run an 4 week on, 1 week off program schedule. Your off week is a transition or recovery week designed to ensure proper healing, resting, and rejuvenation so that you can go the distance year-round. Follow our specially designed Recovery Week Program for best results.
8. How many people are in each boot camp?
12-20 people is the norm. We will get to know you well! I hope you’re ready for a committed relationship! (We’re getting butterflies).
9. What do I bring to class?
Towel. Water Bottle. Exercise Mat (optional).
Positive Attitude. Epic Work Ethic. Coachable Spirit.
*A Fuku-Roller (foam roller) is essential for your home workouts, recovery week, and in class. You can bring your own or get one from us!
10. What do I wear to class?
Wear comfortable, soft, breathable materials.
Wear cross trainer athletic shoes like Nike Free, Vibram Five Fingers or running shoes with soles that are low to the ground (no platform-like soles or those “shape-up” shoes with rounded bottoms).
11. What if I can’t make it to class?
Members will have access to various workouts. Certain memberships also come with easy-to-follow workouts you can complete at home on “off” days, during “recovery weeks,” or when away for work/travel.
12. Will I experience muscle soreness?
Yes. The initial phase of adding resistance training to your exercise program will cause muscle soreness. And because we change our training programs every four weeks to keep your body from adapting, you may experience new muscle soreness each time. To help with muscle soreness, we provide Self-Myofascial Release (SMR) and Corrective Stretching Strategies before (and after) every session as well as nutritional guidelines to help your body recover from intense workouts. Your body will adjust!
13. Are you going to yell at me?
No. Our classes are all extremely supportive and motivating. You may hear a AWESOME FINISH! or DIG DEEP! or NICE HAIRCUT!…but we will never yell in an unsupportive fashion.
14. Is there a Nutrition Program involved?
Yes! A CRUCIAL component of any fat-loss program is nutrition. Even if fat loss isn’t your first concern, eating properly is going to get you to new heights in energy, recovery, and lean muscle mass. You will receive Fukumoto Fitness Nutrition Guidelines, Grocery Store Tour, Meal Plans and more with membership!
15. Are there Special Events or Drop-Ins?
Yes, there are Special Events and Drop-In classes that will be run occasionally. If you want to be on an email list to let you know when these are coming up, please contact us!
16. Do you have showers?
No. Our facility is a great open warehouse space. That being said, it does NOT have frills like showers, saunas, changerooms with TVs. Come dressed in your workout clothes if possible and get ready to bring it! We do have a clean bathroom.
17. Can I bring my child?
This will depend on if your child is old enough to sit in a designated area and not interfere with the workouts. We want to help you out here if possible so you need to answer this question honestly to ensure safety for all parties.
18. If I’m pregnant, can I join? How soon after pregnancy can I join?
You will need to be cleared from your doctor (Par-med X for Pregnancy Form) to indicate it is safe to participate.
19. I have a GROUPON. What do I do?
If you have a GROUPON you need to email us at info@fukumotofitness.com with your full name, best email, cell number, and class time(s) that you would like. Take a look at our Annual Training Calendar (under Membership tab) to see which date is best for you to start. You must start at the beginning of a phase and a bootcamp orientation is mandatory before beginning our program.
20. Can I grunt and groan during the workout?
Of course you can! Thanks for asking. We encourage members to work their hardest and oftentimes this will lead to very entertaining, diverse sounds that give the room an AWESOME vibe. Let out your inner warrior! (ok, so maybe this one isn’t exactly an FAQ).
